Krista Thompson, PhD '02, honored by David C. Driskell Prize at the High Museum of Art

April 22, 2009

Dr. Krista A. Thompson, who received her PhD from Emory's Graduate Institute of the Liberal Arts (ILA), has recevied the 2009 David C. Driskell award from the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.  The award was presented at the annual prize dinner at the High on April 20.

The Driskell award, named after a prominent African American artist, honors artist or scholars for their work in African American art.  Dr. Thompson was recognized both for her scholarly research and writing and for her work as a curator bringing art of the African disaspora to the attention of the broader public.  (For more information, see the High Museum press release.)

"We are thrilled that Dr. Thompson has received this well deserved award," said Associate Dean Mark Risjord.  "She is doing outstanding work as a scholar and as a public intellectual, and we are proud of her Emory roots."
