World-renowned golfer Robert “Bobby” T. Jones, Jr. 29L was an extraordinary man of compassion and integrity who valued education as much as he loved golf. An alumnus of Emory University School of Law, Georgia Institute of Technology and Harvard University, he created a legacy of academic excellence and leadership. The Bobby Jones Program at Emory comprises three signature divisions honoring his legacy.

Jones Program in Ethics

Status: seeking $2 million endowment

Required of all Emory doctoral students, the Laney Graduate School’s Program in Ethics: Scholarly Integrity and Responsible Conduct of Research provides a foundational, cross-disciplinary introduction to ethics for research, teaching, and professional life. It is an integral part of the curriculum in more than forty degree programs with faculty in the humanities, social sciences, biomedical and natural sciences, public health, nursing, law, and business divisions. Endowment gifts to the Jones Program in Ethics will provide students with robust training in deliberative skills to help them sort through the complex ethical questions of professional life. Jones Biomedical Engineering Fellows

Status: seeking $5 million endowment

Based at Emory and Georgia Institute of Technology, the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering is a unique collaboration offering a joint doctorate, awarded by both schools, that integrates life sciences and engineering. Gifts to the endowment for the Jones Biomedical Engineering Fellows will provide annual stipends for Emory and Georgia Institute of Technology students pursuing doctorates in this nationally ranked program. Bobby Jones Scholars and Fellows

Status: fully funded

Since 1976, the Robert T. Jones Memorial Trust has supported the Bobby Jones Scholars exchange program between Emory University and the University of St Andrews. Each year four Emory undergraduates go to St Andrews for a year of study, and four St Andrews students come to Emory. The trusts also fund three master’s-level fellowships each year: one at Emory, one at Georgia Institute of Technology, and one at St Andrews. Donate online.
